چکیده

A new treatment of the path of the rear wheels of single and multiple axle vehicles produces simple first order differential equations for the motion of the rear wheels relative to the front wheels. We show for the first time, under the assumption of no slipping, that the path of the rear wheels depends only on the path of the front wheels and not on the vehicle speed. We examine motion along straight, circular and winding roads, giving closed form solutions in the first two cases. We also provide a straightforward algorithm for computing vehicle offtracking for any road geometry. We believe these results will be of significant benefit to road designers. ∗Department of Mathematics and Statistics, La Trobe University, Bundoora, Victoria 3086, Australia. Stability of Three-Wheeled Vehicles with and without Control System

In this study, stability control of a three-wheeled vehicle with two wheels on the front axle, a three-wheeled vehicle with two wheels on the rear axle, and a standard four-wheeled vehicle are compared. For vehicle dynamics control systems, the direct yaw moment control is considered as a suitable way of controlling the lateral motion of a vehicle during a severe driving maneuver. In accorda...

Evaluating the Importance of Rear Spoiler on Energy Efficiency of Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles (EVs) have gained the attention of many authorities, automakers and researchers due to their considerable energy saving and emission reduction. One of the main issues that must be considered in design of a road vehicle is the calculation of aerodynamic forces. This issue also must be scrutinized in the design of EVs. Installation of rear spoiler is one of the solutions propose...

A Monte Carlo Simulation of Chain Reaction Rear End Potential Collisions on Freeways

In recent research on modelling road collisions very little attention has been paid  to rear-end chain reaction collisions, which is characterized by more than two vehicles involved in a collision at the same time. The core aim of the present research is to develop a methodology to estimate such potential collision probabilities based on a proactive perspective, where deceleration rate to avoid...

Driving/Regeneration and Stability Enhancement of a 4WD Hybrid Vehicles Using Multi-Stage Fuzzy Controller

In front wheels driven vehicles, fuel economy can be obtained by summing torques applied to rear wheels. On the other hand, unequal torques applied to rear wheels provides enhanced safety. In this paper, a model with seven degrees of freedom is considered for the vehicle body. Thereafter, power-train subsystems are modeled. Considering an electrical machine on each rear wheel, a fuzzy controlle...

Comparison between linear and nonlinear models for surge motion of TLP

Tension-Leg Platform (TLP) is a vertically moored floating structure. The platform is permanently mooredby tendons. Surge equation of motion of TLP is highly nonlinear because of large displacement and it should be solved with perturbation parameter in time domain. This paper compare the dynamic motion responses of a TLP in regular sea waves obtained by applying three method in time domain usin...
